About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, multi-skilled handyman to provide on-call property maintenance on a retainer basis. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, is self-directed and wants flexible work rather than a full-time commitment. Retainer arrangements focus on recurring repairs and preventative maintenance in exchange for a flat monthly fee.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing fixtures, electrical wiring, HVAC units, doors and windows
- Perform carpentry tasks such as drywall repair and basic carpentry projects
- Complete painting, minor landscaping, fixture installations, furniture assembly and other small projects
- Carry out scheduled inspections, preventative maintenance and seasonal upkeep to identify issues and plan repairs
- Maintain tools/equipment and keep detailed records of completed work
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly, including occasional evenings or weekends
- Communicate effectively with the property owner about job status, parts needed and potential improvements
Who You Are
- At least 2 years' experience in building maintenance, construction or a similar trade
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and general repairs
- Comfortable using hand and power tools and reading manuals or blueprints
- Strong problem-solver with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lb and perform manual labour
- High-school diploma or equivalent; any trade certifications are a plus
- Must have your own reliable transportation and basic tools; no company vehicle is provided
- Good communication skills and customer-service mindset
- Valid driver's licence and ability to commute to multiple properties around Reno
Hours & Pay
Work Schedule:
- Part-time, on-call position
- Roughly 10-15 hours per month
- Workload varies based on property needs
- Occasional evenings or weekends
Compensation:
- Monthly retainer fee
- Hourly rate for work beyond included hours
- Competitive with local market rates
- Paid monthly
Note: This is a contract retainer role. We do not offer benefits (health insurance, paid time off, etc.), and you will be responsible for your own vehicle and tools.
